It has been used in various other fields also . Here in Apparel industry CAD  plays a vital role .  Any Apparel industry purchase CAD to reduce fabric consumption as much as they can and with better efficiency. So lets discuss with Detail.

Computer Aided Design

CAD is the contraction which stands for Computer Aided Design. This term means different things to different people involved in designing, manufacturing and mechanical engineering. CAD or Computer Aided Design has brought a revolution in the Textile industry, specially in apparel industry. The time consuming and cumbersome process of textile designing has been made easier by CAD. Now thoughtful and innovative designs are available to the textile designers and textile manufacturers at the click of a mouse.

Receiving of pattern parts

Taking the image of pattern in CPU by digitizer

Moderizing of all pattern parts by the software (Moderizer)

Aligning all size pattern parts in the marker by the software (Diamino)

Completing the marker

Taking approval from CAM section

Bringing out the marker through plotter. 

Procedure of CAD Section:

§  In CAD section at first the pattern put on the digitizer to take clear image of the pattern part in side the CPU. 

§  After making all required size patterns using the “Diamino” software pattern parts are aligned in the mini marker. Then it is sent to CPU of CAM section for approval and checking the length & width of marker and pattern parts alignment. 

§  After getting approval from CAM section then printer is used to print out the whole real marker then this marker as well as mini marker are provided to the CAM section for cutting the fabric.

 

 

Advantages of CAD Software in Apparel Manufacturing Industry:

There are some key advantages of computer aided design (CAD) in readymade apparel industry which are listed in the below:

1.     Computer aided design (CAD) system reduces the most valuable times compared to the laborious manual work of designing.

2.     All the design data can be easily stored, transmitted, and transported through the computer files.

3.     The design can be done from anywhere and the total process can be easily controlled by the customers.

4.     Digital swatches can be preserved on zip disks, floppy disks, hard drive or CD-ROM which saves enough space.

5.     The another major benefits of CAD software in clothing manufacturing industry is the designers do not need to produce different swatches all the time for different colors as they can now see how a particular fabric or apparel looks in different shapes and colors on computer screen itself.

6.     The total design can be easily personalized and customized within a short period of time without significant delays or cost increases.

 

 

Disadvantages of CAD Drawing Or Drafting in Apparel Sector:

Though it’s too hard to get negative update about the computer aided design or CAD application in apparel industry. But there are some slight disadvantages of CAD application which comes from the several Cad experts from this industry.  Those are in the following:

1.     Some most popular CAD software has higher price like as Proge CAD, QCAD, Libre CAD and Open SCAD.

2.     CAD operator has to train themselves according to update of CAD software.

3.     Sometimes, it’s too tough to find skilled operator to run CAD software.
